Samsung’s big April update for the Galaxy S25 series is now available in the US. The update was recently rolled out to carrier-locked units on Verizon’s network. It should soon be available widely for locked and unlocked units across the nation. Samsung has already pushed the update in several international markets.
Galaxy S25 gets the big April update in the US
April 2025 has been the month of One UI 7 updates. Samsung finally released the stable build, pushing it to a bunch of 2024 and 2023 flagships. Over the past couple of weeks, the Galaxy S24, S24 FE, Galaxy S23, Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold SE, and Tab S10 have all received the big Android 15 update. Users can check for updates from the Settings app.
While the Galaxy S25 series shipped with One UI 7 out of the box, it wasn’t the final build. The update that Samsung rolled out to older models contains additional changes, including live notifications support for the media player and smoother charging animations. The company is bringing these changes to the S25 lineup with the April update.
After an initial rollout in Korea, Australia, India, and select other markets, this update is now rolling out to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US. Verizon users with a carrier-locked unit are getting the build version AYD9, the same as some other markets. While the changelog doesn’t mention much, the update should contain the said enhancements.
“The current software update provides performance improvements and the most up-to-date Android security patches for your device,” Verizon’s official changelog states. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S25 lineup is picking up the April security patch. It addresses over 60 vulnerabilities, including a few critical Android OS security flaws. Samsung should soon roll out this update widely for all S25 units across the US.
