Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra looks set to bring substantial advancements to its display. The phone will reportedly adopt the M14 OLED material and COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology. In addition to hardware upgrades, the Ultra model could introduce an AI-powered privacy feature on the display. A fresh leak now gives us the first look at how this feature might work and improve user privacy.

Samsung may take smartphone privacy to the next level with the Galaxy S26 Ultra

While Samsung is rolling out its Android 16-based One UI 8 for eligible Galaxy devices, the company is already working on the subsequent version. Dubbed One UI 8.5, the new software will ship with the Galaxy S26 series, including the S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. A few days ago, strings within the One UI 8.5 internal build suggested that it would bring a new Privacy Display mode. The mode aims to protect your privacy in public by limiting screen visibility from side angles.

However, the privacy feature will rely on the company’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, which was introduced at last year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). It uses AI to control OLED pixels on the screen and makes it difficult to read from the sides. According to the previous report, only the Galaxy S26 Ultra will integrate this advanced privacy display technology. That means the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge will miss out on this One UI 8.5 feature.

Tipster @UniverseIce has recently shared a promo video on their X profile, showing how Flex Magic Pixel technology works in practice. As you can see in the video, the screen becomes unreadable (completely dark) from side angles, preventing anyone nearby from seeing the content. This is particularly helpful when you open an app containing sensitive information in public places. Of course, the demo is not on the actual Galaxy S26 Ultra, but it gives us a clear idea of how the feature might work when it arrives on the phone.
