These Three New Features Are Coming to Galaxy XR

Google has begun rolling out the first meaningful updates for the Galaxy XR headset. The latest round brings PC Connect, a new Travel Mode, and a digital avatar suite called Likeness to the Galaxy XR. Google were revealed these features during the latest episode of The Android Show, which focused entirely on Android XR.

The biggest addition is PC Connect, now available in beta. It allows users to link a Windows PC directly to Galaxy XR and bring their desktop or individual app windows into the headset to run alongside native Android XR apps from Google Play. The connection works at full resolution with a high frame rate over Wi Fi. In addition, users can share a keyboard and mouse between both devices.

Another feature arriving with this update is Travel Mode. As the name suggests, it’s designed for use on planes or in other moving vehicles. It keeps the XR view stable even while the user is in motion, which should help reduce motion sickness. This makes it better suited for watching movies, working, or gaming during travel without constant visual drift or discomfort.

The final addition is Likeness, a realistic digital version of the user designed for video calls. It mirrors facial expressions and hand gestures in real time and is created using a compatible phone rather than the headset itself. While more lifelike than most avatars, it still has a slightly uncanny appearance compared to Apple’s Vision Pro Personas.

Along with Google, Samsung has confirmed that all of these features will begin rolling out today in the US and Korea. Two of the only markets where the company officially sells the Galaxy XR. Reports say that Samsung plans to make the Galaxy XR available in more markets in 2026. Those could include Germany, France, Canada, and the UK.
