Samsung has already confirmed that it’s working on smart glasses. According to reports, the company is actually developing two models, and one of them will launch later this year. They’ll run the Android XR operating system, and Spotify is already setting the stage for the upcoming Galaxy Glasses.

Spotify is already setting things up for Galaxy Glasses, and here’s a glimpse (sort of)

Folks over at Android Authority spotted that Spotify is already preparing for the upcoming Galaxy Glasses. While digging through the latest beta of the Spotify app, the outlet found some hints. These hints suggest you’ll be able to see a Now Playing screen on your Galaxy Glasses. You may also see lyrics on your smart glasses’ screen.

One tiny detail “XRPROJECTED” is important, which Google also notes on its Android XR developer page. These smart glasses won’t be a standalone device, and they’ll require a connection to your phone. And that honestly makes sense. In fact, in a one-to-one with CNBC, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon had said: “I want everyone that has a phone to go buy companion glasses to go along with it.”

As it stands, a truckload of important details are still unknown at this point. As we inch closer, we’ll see the full picture because things are still blurry for now. Hopefully, Samsung sticks to the plan and launches the smart glasses globally, and doesn’t restrict them to just a few markets or delay the rollout.

A global launch (or at least in major markets) seems more likely given how closely Google, Qualcomm, and Samsung are working on this. All three have a massive presence in the US, so it’s unlikely that the US launch will be held off. For now, we really can’t wait to try out the Galaxy Glasses, or whatever it ends up being called.
