Samsung has always positioned its Galaxy smartphones as leaders in mobile security, and for good reason. At the heart of that promise is Knox, the company’s security platform that powers tools like Secure Folder. With One UI 8, Samsung is taking another step forward in refining how Secure Folder works — this time by giving users more control over sharing behavior.

New toggle lets Secure Folder apps show up as sharing targets in One UI 8

Secure Folder is a protected space in supported Galaxy phones where users can stash sensitive files, photos, and even full apps behind an extra layer of authentication. In One UI 8, Secure Folder settings introduce a new toggle that determines whether apps installed within Secure Folder can appear in the system-wide sharing menu.

In simpler terms, if you’ve got an app like WhatsApp or Notes tucked away in Secure Folder, this setting controls whether you can share files from outside apps directly into those hidden apps. It makes moving content from your normal workspace into your secure environment significantly easier, without needing to jump through hoops.

This update builds on other One UI 8 improvements to Secure Folder, such as the ability to instantly hide the folder and all apps within it. While seemingly small, these changes reflect Samsung’s continued efforts to strike a balance between security and convenience for users who rely on Secure Folder for storing their private files and documents.

Samsung has already rolled out three One UI 8 beta builds for the Galaxy S25 series. While it’s unclear whether there will be a Beta 4, the company has confirmed plans to introduce the official version at its upcoming Unpacked event on July 9. It will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and other new foldables with One UI 8 out of the box. Samsung may also share its stable release timeline for the Galaxy S25 and other models, so stay tuned.
