Samsung is rolling out a second January update to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Currently available in South Korea, the new build doesn’t bring any major changes, leaving users wondering if it means a delayed One UI 7 rollout. The update should soon expand to other markets, including the US.
Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 get second January update
Over the past three weeks, Samsung has rolled out the January 2025 security update to dozens of Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 were some of the first to receive the update, introducing over 50 security patches. The company has now released a second January build for these phones.
The latest update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra running One UI 6.1 (One UI 7 beta is available for the 2024 flagships) comes with the firmware build number S92*NKSS4AXL3. The update file weighs 376.82MB for the Ultra and comes with a generic changelog that only mentions system stability improvements.
In fact, the changelog is the same for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 as well. Their new build numbers are F956NKSS2AYA3 and F741NKSS2AYA3, respectively. These updates also weigh around 380MB. Interestingly, while the new builds for the foldable duo were developed in 2025, the Galaxy S24 series received a 2024 build. For the uninitiated, the third-to-last character tells the build year — read the full firmware guide here.
As said earlier, these are minor updates with no notable user-facing changes. It’s unclear why Samsung is rolling the new updates to the devices just days ahead of the Galaxy S25 launch. The new flagships will ship with One UI 7. People are wondering if Samsung will delay the One UI 7 rollout for older models, including the Galaxy S24 series. We shall find out soon. The Galaxy S25 series goes official this Wednesday, January 22.
