Samsung is gearing up to launch its 2025 foldable lineup at its upcoming summer Unpacked event. The lineup could include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip FE. There are chatters also surrounding its first tri-fold device, which was teased during the January Unpacked event. Now, Samsung has displayed a couple of concept foldable devices at MWC 2025, which include Flex G and Flex S.

G-Fold and S-Fold multi-fold display comparison at SDC’s MWC suite

Ross Young, VP at Counterpoint Research, has recently posted a video on his X handle that shows both Flex G (G-Fold) and Flex S (S-Fold) devices — displayed at the Samsung Display Corporation (SDC) suite at MWC 2025. Note that these devices are just demos, not actual products. However, Samsung’s first tri-fold device might have a G-style design (similar to Flex G’s folding mechanism.), which should be more durable. Young says it features a 6.49-inch cover display.

Samsung may introduce the device later this year. However, it is unclear whether the firm will announce it during the summer Unpacked event, which typically takes place in July. Responding to @MatthewReiter05’s comment on chances of announcing or teasing the device during Unpacked Summer 2025, Young replied, “Good chance they could mention it, although we expect it to launch later in Q3 or in Q4.”

Unlike Huawei’s S-style “Mate XT” tri-fold device, which has one section folding inwards and the other outwards, Samsung’s tri-fold device can fold twice inwards. Samsung’s G-style tri-fold design should protect the screen from drop impact. The Korean firm might call its first tri-fold phone the Galaxy G Fold. The device reportedly bears the codename Q7M and the model number SM-F968.

Apart from the G-style tri-fold device, Samsung has a plan for an S-style tri-fold, which folds both inwards and outwards, similar to the Flex S concept device or Huawei’s Mate XT’s folding mechanism. However, there is no information on its release window.
