The development of One UI 8.5, Samsung’s next major Android 16-based software update, is no longer a mystery. Thanks to early builds, we already know some of the features and design changes coming to Galaxy devices. It looks like the company will bring back pollen tracking to the Samsung Weather app, a feature that disappeared in previous One UI versions.
Samsung Weather app may show pollen cards in One UI 8.5
Samsung Weather lets users check detailed weather forecasts such as UV index, humidity, precipitation, wind speed, and more. Earlier, the app also showed pollen levels directly in the app, giving allergy sufferers insight into daily conditions. With the release of One UI 7, the app omitted this useful feature, leaving many users disappointed.
Of course, you can still visit Weather.com from the app directly (the company places the link at the footer of the page) to check pollen levels, but that’s not the most convenient way. The built-in pollen cards make it much easier to see the information without leaving the app. Several users took to Reddit and Samsung’s community to express their frustration after the pollen tracker disappeared in One UI 7.

Thankfully, Samsung has listened to users’ feedback, and now the pollen tracker is returning in One UI 8.5. Folks over at Android Authority managed to run a leaked One UI 8.5 build on a device and confirmed the existence of pollen cards. As you can see in the screenshots above, the app displays tree, grass, and ragweed pollen levels. They show up with color-coded leaf icons and severity levels such as None, Low, and Moderate.
If you want a more detailed breakdown, just tap any of the pollen cards, and it will direct you to Weather.com. In addition to bringing back pollen levels, the app has received some visual changes. For example, the company redesigned the back arrow, search icon, and three-dot menu for a more modern look. Furthermore, the weather widget appears to show more dynamic information. Stay tuned for more details.
