Samsung continues to add new services to its Samsung Wallet to stand out in the digital payment market. The company recently signed a business agreement with Hana Card to offer travel benefits and ID services. The signing ceremony took place at Hana Card’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Samsung partners with Hana Card to expand Samsung Wallet services

Samsung has been leading the domestic mobile payment market with Samsung Wallet. Last month, the company launched the Samsung Wallet Money·Points service, which rewards users with points for making payments. Now it is expanding its services through the new partnership with Hana Card.

For the uninitiated, Hana Card offers a bunch of benefits and services in overseas payments. For example, through the Hana Money app, users can exchange currency for free in 58 foreign currencies. Its Travelogue card can be used globally without fees. Now Samsung aims to take advantage of Hana Card’s payment expertise.

The two companies will collaborate on issuing affiliated cards and launching new services to improve user convenience. One of the key initiatives is the launch of the Samsung Wallet Travel Partnership Card. The card will offer users several benefits, including Samsung Wallet points.

Furthermore, Samsung Wallet will introduce a mobile ID service for universities (as part of the collaboration). This will allow students and employees to register their ID cards directly on the digital payment platform. They can use the ID for campus gate entry, library, and reading room use, and check card functions. This solution will eliminate the need to carry a physical ID card while also reducing the risk of losing it.

“Through this business agreement with Hana Card, we will provide a convenient payment experience overseas, further enhance the convenience of school life, and provide customers with practical benefits through Samsung Wallet Points,” said Samsung Electronics Digital Wallet Team Leader Vice President Chae Won-cheol.
