Samsung Wallet Now Supports AMEX Cards in Korea

Samsung is expanding Samsung Wallet’s payment options in Korea by adding support for American Express (AMEX) cards. The update gives Galaxy users more flexibility, especially when making payments abroad.
Samsung says Wallet support for other cards on AMEX network is coming soon!
Starting February 4, according to official announcement, Samsung Wallet users in South Korea can add AMEX cards issued by Samsung Card. Therefore, users can use them for NFC contactless payments at merchants worldwide. This applies at any location that accepts American Express cards.

With this change, Samsung Wallet now supports Visa, Mastercard, and American Express covering all three major global card networks. Samsung says it plans to expand cards from other issues on AMEX network in the future.
AMEX remains a popular choice for frequent travelers and premium cardholders. This is thanks to perks like travel rewards, dining benefits, and international acceptance.
By bringing AMEX into Samsung Wallet, Samsung makes it easier for users to rely on their Galaxy devices for everyday purchases and overseas travel. Furthermore, the payments work on Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches. Therefore, there’s no need to carry a physical card.
Alongside credit and debit cards, Samsung Wallet already supports transit cards, loyalty cards, and other digital credentials in select regions. At the same time, it continues to be positioned as more than just a payment app.
