In January, Samsung announced a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service for Samsung Wallet to simplify in-store purchases. The company is now enrolling users for a trial on an invite-only basis. This trial gives select users early access to this convenient payment option as Samsung tests out the system. A wider rollout may follow in the coming months, depending don’t the outcome of the trial period.
Samsung Wallet invites users to test “Buy Now, Pay Later” in the US
Samsung recently sent us an email inviting us to participate in an early access program for Samsung Wallet’s Installment Payments, i.e., the “Buy Now, Pay Later” service. Originally announced in January, the company launched this feature in partnership with Splitit, a platform used by merchants in over 30 countries and shoppers in over 100 countries.
Installment Payments allow Samsung Wallet users to split in-store purchases into manageable payments over time using their existing credit card. There’s no credit check required, and it works at most retailers that accept payments via Samsung’s wallet app.
The feature leverages the available balance on a linked eligible Visa or Mastercard credit card, making the process smooth, secure, and fast. Samsung says select Visa and Mastercard credit cards from participating banks are eligible for this feature. The company may expand support to more cards following the Early Access program.
According to Samsung, this invite-only access to Samsung Wallet’s “Buy Now, Pay Later” service is available for residents of Arizona, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, and Wyoming. Eligible users in these states should see a banner titled “Early Access for Installment Payments” in the Wallet app.
You can tap the Sign Up button to get started. Once enrolled, you’ll receive a follow-up email with instructions when the feature goes live. The trial program kicks off on April 28 and runs through June 6, 2025. Samsung might then roll out the service widely for all Samsung Wallet users in the US. Theoretically, all NFC-enabled Galaxy phones should support the feature, but we do not have an official confirmation.
