Samsung Unveils Ultra-Thin OLED Panel UT One for IT Devices at Computex 2025

Last week, Samsung unveiled its OLEDoS panel for XR headsets as well as showcased its sensor OLED display technology during Display Week 2025. The company is now participating in the Computex 2025 event in Taipei, Taiwan, which is Asia’s largest IT trade show. At Computex, Samsung unveiled its ultra-thin OLED panel dubbed the UT One. On top of that, it unveiled several low-power solutions optimized for IT devices such as laptops and tablets.

Samsung unveils its new UT One OLED panel

During the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2025 event, Samsung Display made the global debut of its UT One display along with several low-power consumption solutions. Designed with an ultra-thin structure, UT One is the first OLED panel for IT devices that supports a minimum variable refresh rate of 1 Hz.

Thanks to Oxide TFT technology, UT One can switch its refresh rate dynamically between 1 Hz and 120 Hz, depending on the display content. This helps to reduce the power consumption of the panel by 30% compared to conventional panels.

Unlike traditional OLEDs, the UT One display replaces the top glass substrate with ultra-thin organic and inorganic thin films. This helps the company to produce 30% thinner and lighter panels, reducing its weight by about 50 grams, which is equivalent to a single standard laptop battery cell.

As of now, Samsung Display is building an Oxide TFT process at its 8.6-generation IT OLED production line in the Asan campus in Korea. At this facility, the company aims to start Oxide TFT production in 2026 and eventually produce the UT One panel.

Apart from unveiling its ultra-thin OLED panel, the company also showcased several low-power OLED technologies, such as Intelligent Color Technology (ICT) and Edge Luminance Profile (ELP), at the event. Intelligent Color Technology increases the saturation of pixels and reduces luminance so that the display can consume less power. Meanwhile, Edge Luminance Profile technology adjusts the luminance of the peripheral areas that are not easily visible to reduce power consumption.
