Samsung TV Is Finally Getting Google Photos, but There’s a Small Caveat

Samsung is finally bringing Google Photos to its TVs, but if you were expecting a full app experience, you might want to lower those expectations a bit. The feature is now rolling out to select 2026 Samsung TV models, about which the company hinted just before New Year. It’s a nice touch, but it’s not here to replace the mobile or web experience.

Samsung adds Google Photos Memories to select TVs

Instead of giving you full access to your entire photo library, Samsung is leaning into Google Photos’ “Memories” feature here. You’ll see these pop up in a few different spots across the TV interface, including the Daily+ row, the app launcher, and the Daily Board widget. Each one pulls in a rotating set of photos that are automatically selected and refreshed over time.

As Google explains, the Daily+ row works like a quick preview strip, so you can scroll through recent highlights. If you want something more immersive, jumping into the app launcher opens up a full-screen slideshow of your memories. There’s also the Daily Board widget, which quietly displays photos while you’re using other parts of the TV.

So, how do you get there? You open the Google Photos section on your TV, scan a QR code with your phone, and sign in. After a quick confirmation, your account is linked and your memories start showing up almost instantly. If you’ve used Samsung’s setup flows before, this will feel very familiar.

You also get a few useful controls so things don’t get awkward on a shared screen. You can hide specific people, pets, or dates, and fine-tune which memories show up. There’s even a guest mode that filters out sensitive content, which feels like a smart addition for a living room setup.
