Samsung’s foldable ambitions are set to reach a new milestone later this year. Alongside a cheaper clamshell foldable, the company is gearing up to launch its first tri-fold device, known unofficially as the Galaxy G Fold. This highly anticipated device could be unveiled in the third quarter of 2025, possibly around September. However, it may come with serious limitations in terms of price and availability.

Samsung’s Galaxy G Fold tri-fold could carry a hefty price tag

According to noted tipster @heyitsyogesh, the upcoming Samsung tri-fold phone will follow the same path as last year’s Galaxy Z Fold SE. It is currently on track for a launch only in two markets: South Korea and China. Like the SE model, this limited regional release suggests that Samsung is treating the tri-fold as a showcase device rather than a mainstream product, at least for now.

Even in these two countries, the Galaxy G Fold will reportedly be available in limited quantities, further reinforcing its experimental nature. Samsung has not officially confirmed a launch date, but the company has previously hinted at its tri-fold ambitions during tech showcases and Unpacked events. Given the engineering complexity and high manufacturing costs, this rollout strategy is not entirely unexpected.

What’s surprising is the price. The Galaxy G Fold will reportedly cost between $3,000 and $3,500, positioning it as Samsung’s most expensive smartphone to date. By comparison, the Korean prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold SE come in at approximately $1,600 and $2,100, respectively. This makes the tri-fold twice as expensive as the regular Fold model — the US prices start at $1,900.

Of course, we never expected the device to be cheap. But this is a pretty hefty price tag for Samsung’s first-gen tri-fold. Well, that’s if the leaked figures are accurate. Since these are still early days, we cannot vouch for the authenticity of the information. We may hear something about the product at Samsung’s next Unpacked in July.
