Samsung’s TM Roh Confirms Galaxy Z TriFold Launch by End of 2025

A few weeks ago, Samsung revealed that it has a tri-folding smartphone and an XR headset in the pipeline. Now, TM Roh, head of the company’s mobile division, has confirmed that the trifold will debut before the end of this year. He also suggested that the long-awaited XR headset is nearing its launch.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is coming this year
At a press briefing during IFA 2025 in Berlin, TM Roh confirmed that the tri-folding smartphone is nearing completion. “The development of the Tri-Fold Phone is in its final stages,” Roh said. He added, “We plan to release it by the end of this year.” Though the official name is not available yet, the device is expected to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold.
The tri-fold phone, which folds two times to transition between smartphone and tablet form factors, has been the subject of numerous leaks, concept showcases, and official teasers over the past year. Most of these pointed to a Q4 2025 launch, and the Samsung head’s latest remarks now serve as another semi-official confirmation.
With Samsung already leading the foldable market through its Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series, the tri-fold may push boundaries further by offering a more versatile form factor. While it isn’t the first to make such products — Huawei has already launched two tri-folds — the Korean firm’s global reach and marketing power could be what finally brings this futuristic design into the mainstream.
XR and smart glasses in the pipeline
Roh also touched on Samsung’s XR (Extended Reality) devices and smart glasses. The company intends to launch its XR headset once the technology reaches a “high level of maturity,” with leaks pointing to a possible release later this year. As for smart glasses, Samsung appears to be taking a more cautious approach, suggesting a potential debut around 2026.
