Samsung Testing One UI 8 for Galaxy A16 5G Ahead of Stable Rollout

Samsung isn’t hitting the brakes as it prepares the stable One UI 8 for a major release. At Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, both set to launch with Android 16-based One UI 8. As the launch date approaches, Samsung has been expanding its testing efforts, and the Galaxy A16 is the latest device to join the One UI 8 testing lineup.
Samsung is now testing One UI 8 for Galaxy A16 5G in Europe
As spotted by Akhilesh Kumar on X, Samsung is now testing One UI 8 build for the Galaxy A16 5G in Europe. The build number in question is A166BXXU3CYF5. Just a few hours earlier, we also learnt that Samsung is testing One UI 8 build on the Galaxy A15.

If these sightings are any indication, Samsung wants to ensure the software is ready for a broader range of devices once the stable version goes live with the new flagships. This also hints that we might actually see the stable One UI 8 roll out to mid-range models like the A15 and A16 a bit sooner than expected.
As for what One UI 8 brings, the update includes a number of meaningful improvements over its predecessor. While you shouldn’t expect it to be as big of a leap as One UI 7, it does introduce many under-the-hood enhancements. The update focuses on functionality, with features like a new 90:10 multitasking split, expanded Routine actions, and dynamic wallpapers. These refinements boost usability and performance, resulting in a smoother, more responsive experience.
Samsung is also ramping up One UI 8 beta testing, having already released three updates. Currently, the beta is only available for the Galaxy S25 series in select regions. We will see whether the company adds more devices in the coming days.
