Samsung is quietly making Bixby smarter. Following last year’s big announcement, the company recently shared a video clip teasing some cool Bixby upgrades on its AI TVs. The latest version of Bixby is getting better at understanding context, handling vague search queries, and even processing multiple commands at once. It may not be the most advanced thing happening right now, but it’s helpful.
Bixby finally understands the context on Samsung AI TVs
One of the biggest improvements is context awareness. In a demo, someone asks, “What is the capital of Vietnam?” Bixby correctly answers “Hanoi.” Then, they follow up with “How’s the weather there?” without specifying “Hanoi” again. Instead of getting confused, Bixby understands the connection and gives the weather report for Hanoi. It’s a small but important upgrade that makes interactions feel more natural.
Another teaser highlights better search capabilities. Instead of needing an exact title, you can now search based on a rough description. In the example, someone says, “Find me an animation of a person riding a bike.” Bixby pulls up 90RPM, along with other related suggestions. If this works well in real life, it could make finding content much easier, especially when you can’t remember the name of what you’re looking for.
Then, there are multi-action commands. Normally, you’d have to give separate voice commands one after the other, but now you can combine them. So instead of saying, “Find me an animation of a person riding a bike,” and then, “Turn the volume to 10,” you can just say both in one sentence, and Bixby will take care of it.
After watching the clip, we tried it on Samsung’s 2024 85-inch QLED 4K TV, but the Bixby update isn’t here yet. We’d love to see how it fares against what’s teased, but guess we’ll have to wait longer. Samsung hasn’t shared a release date for these upgrades yet, but if they work as smoothly as the teasers suggest, Bixby might finally become a voice assistant worth using on Samsung’s AI TVs.
