A few days ago, Samsung confirmed the development of its next-generation Exynos 2600 chip. However, it was unclear whether the chip would be integrated into the upcoming Galaxy S26 flagship series. A fresh report now suggests that the Korean firm is indeed considering using the in-house SoC in at least some S26 models. Of course, this will depend on final performance tests and yields before it enters mass production.

Exynos 2600 chip may power the upcoming Galaxy S26

As you know, the latest Galaxy S25 series used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy across all regions. The reason is that Samsung failed to begin a timely mass production of its Exynos 2500 chip due to various issues, including low yield. However, the Korean firm later resolved these problems and successfully implemented the chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

So, it’s natural to wonder whether the Galaxy S26 series will finally mark the return of Exynos chips to Samsung’s flagship S line. According to Bloomberg, a Samsung executive said that the company is currently evaluating new application processors for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This includes both Qualcomm’s chips and Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600.

While the executive did not specifically mention the Qualcomm chip name, a previous report suggests it will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy with a top clock speed of up to 4.74GHz. This comes as no surprise, as Samsung has been using Qualcomm’s flagship processors in its Galaxy S lineup for years. However, the mention of the Exynos 2600 suggests that Samsung is actively working to use its in-house chip, at least in some regions.

The Korean company wants to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm, as it increases the cost burden. Switching to its own chip solution will not only help lower production costs but also give Samsung’s System LSI division a stronger position to compete with leading semiconductor firms. It will be interesting to see whether the Exynos 2600 can successfully enter mass production with a satisfactory stable yield ahead of the Galaxy S26’s debut.
