Samsung Starts January 2026 Update for Galaxy S23 Lineup

Samsung has started rolling out its January 2026 security update for the Galaxy S23 series, including the S23 FE. The update is now live in South Korea, with a wider global rollout expected in the coming days. It brings dozens of security patches, including a few critical ones.
Galaxy S23’s January 2026 update goes live in Samsung’s home country
The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are picking up this month’s security patch in Korea with the firmware build version EZA1. The January 2026 update for the Galaxy S23 FE carries the build version DZA3. Samsung should soon roll out the new security patch to these devices in other markets, including the US.
As expected, the changelog is minimal. The update focuses entirely on security improvements, with no new features or improvements in tow. Samsung’s latest SMR (security Maintenance Release) addresses over 50 vulnerabilities across Android OS and One UI components. The Galaxy S23 series will receive One UI 8.5 later this year, introducing several new features and UI enhancements.
Samsung is currently testing this update, with beta access available for Galaxy S25 users in select markets. The company is expected to roll out a new beta build this week. The stable version will debut with the Galaxy S26 series, which hits the market in the first half of March. Samsung may start the One UI 8.5 rollout for other devices, including the Galaxy S23 lineup, in late March or early April.
For the time being, Galaxy users must be content with security patches. You can always manually check for new updates by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Since updates are released in batches, some users may have to wait longer than others. If you don’t see any updates today, wait a few days and repeat the steps to check again.
