Samsung Shares Future AI Plans for Upcoming Galaxy S26

Samsung’s decision to integrate AI deeply into its Galaxy devices has proven successful — it is getting solid responses from consumers. The company is now exploring other opportunities that could make its upcoming Galaxy S26 even smarter and more useful in daily life. It is open to partnering with AI providers that can enhance the Galaxy experience.

In recent years, several OEMs have been racing to implement AI features in their devices. After all, AI has helped users in many ways — features such as smart photo editing, AI-powered assistant, and personalized suggestions have played a major role in selling smartphones. Samsung aims to stay ahead in this competition by partnering with leading AI companies such as OpenAI (ChatGPT maker) and Perplexity AI.

“We are talking to multiple vendors. As long as these AI agents are competitive and can provide the best user experiences, we are open to any AI agent out there,” said Choi Won-Joon, President & COO of Mobile eXperience Business. The executive also said that apart from Google’s Gemini, Samsung aims to offer users more AI models on its upcoming Galaxy S26 smartphone.

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced Gemini AI as the default assistant on the Galaxy S25 series. This allowed users to interact with the AI chatbot simply by pressing and holding the power button. Now, with the Galaxy S26, users may be able to select the assistant that best suits their needs, giving them greater control over their AI experience.

Last month, a report revealed that Samsung is close to finalizing a deal to invest in Perplexity AI. More importantly, the company may pre-install Perplexity as the default AI assistant on the Galaxy S26. For the uninitiated, Perplexity is an AI-powered search engine that delivers real-time answers to users using multiple AI models. It appears that Samsung is now seriously considering using Perplexity’s AI search capabilities to improve the user experience.
