Starting mid-September, Samsung has kicked off a new week with One UI 8 updates for a bunch of devices. It’s no different this week, as the Galaxy Tab S8 series follows the Galaxy M55 to the One UI 8 party. The update is now rolling out in South Korea, with a wider release expected in the coming days.

One UI 8 now rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S8 series

The Android 16-based One UI 8 update for the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra comes with firmware version EYJ4 for Wi-Fi models and JYJ4 for 5G models. The OTA file weighs about 3.5GB, with the exact size varying depending on the model and connectivity variant. Users can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

Once the update appears, simply download and install it to upgrade your device to One UI 8. Because the update size is huge, we recommend using a stable and unmetered Wi-Fi network for the download. Also, ensure that your tablet has sufficient charge (typically more than 30%) before proceeding with the update.

Based on Android 16, One UI 8 introduces a range of refinements, improved performance, and new Galaxy AI integrations that make the Galaxy Tab S8 tablets smarter and more capable than ever. The interface is cleaner, animations are smoother, and widgets have been redesigned for better usability on large screens. You’ll also notice a range of visual and functional updates that make multitasking, creativity, and productivity more seamless.

While this is an exciting release, it also represents the final major platform update for the Galaxy Tab S8 series. The tablets will not receive One UI 9 or future Android versions, though they should still be eligible for One UI 8.5 next year. The upcoming release is pretty feature-packed too, offering more Galaxy AI features, performance optimizations, and security enhancements.
