Samsung Rolls Out January 2026 Update for Galaxy S24 Series

After a relatively slow start, Samsung is now rolling out its January 2026 security update at full speed. The latest security fixes have now reached the Galaxy S24 series, following the Galaxy S25 lineup and recent foldables. This month’s release patches more than 50 vulnerabilities.

The January 2026 security update is now live for the Galaxy S24 series

Last week, Samsung began rolling out the first security update of the year for its Android smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy A34 and A55 were the first to pick up the January 2026 SMR (Security Maintenance Release). Since then, the company has updated a dozen other devices to the latest security patch. The Galaxy S24 series has now entered the fray.

As of this writing, the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are receiving the January 2026 security update in South Korea. The update carries the firmware build version CZA1 (last four characters) and weighs just over 400MB for the Ultra model. Users in other regions should receive the new security patch soon, though the build number and file size may vary.

As mentioned above, the first security release of the year addresses more than 50 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family. These include fixes for security issues affecting both Android OS and Samsung’s own software components. Some flaws are more serious than others, though the companies haven’t detailed all patches yet.

While this update doesn’t introduce any new features or visual changes, Galaxy S24 users should install it as soon as possible to keep their devices secure. You can check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Looking ahead, Samsung is preparing the next major software step for Galaxy devices. The Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series and gradually roll out to existing models. The Galaxy S24 lineup is expected to receive One UI 8.5 by June 2026, with a focus on refinement, smarter AI-driven features, and deeper ecosystem integration.
