Samsung has begun rolling out the May 2025 software update for the Galaxy S25 series in more global markets, following an initial release in select regions like the United States. This broader release brings the latest Android security patches and general system stability enhancements to more S25 users. Other eligible devices will also get this update soon.
Galaxy S25’s May 2025 update goes global
Last week, Samsung released the May update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US. It initially covered carrier-locked units on select networks before expanding the update to unlocked units nationwide. The company is now rolling out the new patch for the 2025 flagship lineup globally, including several Asian countries.
Galaxy S25 users in Asia are getting the latest update with the build version AYDA. The OTA package for the Ultra model weighs just under 700MB. This is a bigger download file for a typical monthly security patch, hinting at additional bug fixes and stability improvements. However, there aren’t any new features here. Samsung has delayed the next feature release for the S25 series.
The company is said to be working on camera improvements, UI enhancements, and more upgrades for the new flagship lineup. It may push these changes with a separate update later this month or bundle them with the June security release. If you are using a Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra, watch out for an update in the coming days. To check if the update is available on your device, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for Samsung’s next major software upgrade — One UI 8 — expected to debut with Android 16 later this year. Leaks from early test builds on the Galaxy S25 Ultra suggest that Samsung is working on a more visually refined interface, featuring blurred and frosted effects for improved readability and aesthetics. Samsung may release One UI 8 in July.
