The One UI 7 update brings several changes and improvements to the Contacts app, enhancing its functionality and usability. Samsung has also reorganized some existing features, making contact management on Galaxy phones more intuitive and efficient than ever before. The beta update may expand to more devices soon.

One UI 7 beta improves contact management

Galaxy phones offer two convenient ways to access and manage your contacts. In addition to the standalone Contacts app, you can use the Contacts tab within the Phone app. With One UI 7, Samsung has introduced new features and reorganized some settings in both apps, enhancing the user experience.

The Manage Contacts option that previously appeared in the overflow menu (three vertical dots) in the Contacts tab on Phone has been moved to Contacts settings. It lets you merge, import, and export contacts. Contacts settings now also have an option to sync contact accounts. Meanwhile, the overflow menu now shows the Scan QR code option that previously appeared in the Contacts app.

There’s one more new feature in this menu: View by storage location. It appears to reorder your contact list according to the location they are saved in. The overall UI remains largely unchanged, though One UI 7 adds matching icons for the Keypad, Recents, and Contacts tabs on the Phone app. Samsung has added these kinds of icons to all apps containing a bottom navigation bar.

One UI 7 beta is currently available for the Galaxy S24 series in the UK, the US, South Korea, China, and Germany. Samsung may launch the beta program for the flagship lineup in Poland and India later this week. The company could also roll out the second beta update for the former five markets this week, possibly on December 12. You can enroll in the beta program through the Samsung Members app.
