Samsung Prepares One UI 8.5 for Galaxy A53, A35, A33 and A25

Samsung is moving quickly with its next major Android 16-based software update, One UI 8.5. After starting the beta testing for its flagship Galaxy S25 series, the company has now begun testing the build on some of its Galaxy A series phones. These include the Galaxy A53, A35, A33, and A25. Previously, devices such as A26, A54, A16 5G, and A17 5G also joined the internal testing program.

Several Galaxy A smartphones join One UI 8.5 development

Samsung’s test servers have now listed early test builds for several older midrange smartphones. Note that these builds are for internal testing only, meaning they are not yet ready for public beta. They allow the company to make sure the new software works well with the hardware before it becomes available to users. The firmware versions (spotted by @Koram_Akhilesh) are:

• Galaxy A53: A536BXXUIHYL6
• Galaxy A35: A356BXXU7DYL2
• Galaxy A33: A336BXXUFHYL6
• Galaxy A25: A256BXXU9EYL2

These builds suggest that Samsung is also preparing One UI 8.5 for mid-range devices alongside its premium phones. The inclusion of models like the A33 and A53 in the testing shows the company’s intention to offer the latest features and improvements to older devices as well.

One UI 8.5 is a refined update over the current One UI 8.0 that brings a host of visual and functional enhancements. For example, the new software introduces resizable Quick Settings panels, allowing users to customize the layout to their preferences. As of now, One UI 8.5 beta is available for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in select regions, including the United States. Samsung reportedly plans to launch the final version of One UI 8.5 alongside the Galaxy S26 series in Q1 2026. After that, the company could start a gradual rollout to older devices like A53, A35, A33, and A25.
