Samsung’s October 2025 Security Update Addresses 34 Vulnerabilities

Samsung recently published the content of its October 2025 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for Galaxy devices. The latest patch addresses 34 security flaws from Samsung, Google, and other partners. The Korean firm will start rolling out these fixes to eligible Galaxy users in the coming days.

Samsung is committed to protecting your Galaxy device against the latest security threats. The company pushes regular security patches addressing newly discovered vulnerabilities. The October 2025 SMR includes fixes for 14 high-severity Android OS vulnerabilities. This month’s update does not include any critical Android OS issues or semiconductor flaws.

In addition to Google’s patches, Samsung has fixed 20 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs). Note that these fixes are exclusive to the Galaxy lineup, including phones, tablets, and smartwatches. So, if you are a user of other Android brands, these patches don’t apply to you. As always, Samsung has shared detailed information on some of these vulnerabilities.

Among the SVE items patched with the October SMR is a major issue in Samsung DeX that allowed attackers to access the recent app list. The update also addresses a serious flaw in the fingerprint trustlet, preventing attackers from writing out-of-bounds memory. Furthermore, the company fixes a vulnerability in Galaxy Watch devices that exposed sensitive information due to insecure data storage.

Several other vulnerabilities have been addressed across Samsung’s core components, including Contacts, KnoxGuard, and Knox Enterprise. These patches now prevent attackers from accessing data across multiple user profiles, misusing privileged APIs, or executing arbitrary code.
