Samsung fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. However, a new leak suggests that the company may not offer one of its most popular pre-order perks, “Double the Storage”. This means early buyers will have to pay the usual for higher storage models during the pre-order period.

Samsung may scrap free storage upgrade for Galaxy S26 buyers

Samsung will bring several upgrades to its next-generation Galaxy S lineup. For example, the Galaxy S26 and S26+ could feature either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the Exynos 2600 chip, depending on the market. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 globally. Both chips deliver solid performance and efficiency.

However, if you’re planning to buy one during the pre-order because of the usual bundle of perks, you may be disappointed. According to a tipster @kro_roe, Samsung may not introduce the “Double the Storage” offer for the Galaxy S26. This perk previously let customers score a 512GB version at the price of a 256GB model. If this leak pans out, early adopters who want more storage will have to pay full price.

Another piece of bad news is that the Galaxy S26 series may see a significant price hike, according to the tipster. In fact, reports have already suggested multiple times that Samsung is planning to increase prices. The main reason is the sharp increase in the cost of key components, particularly mobile DRAM memory chips.

As far as the launch is concerned, the Galaxy S26 series may debut in late February 2026, with pre-orders opening shortly after. While you may not get the usual free storage upgrade, you can take advantage of our Mystery Box program (sign up live). With every purchase, you will receive a box containing a phone case, screen protector, cleaning kit, 65W charger, wired earbuds, and more.
