Samsung Made Over 64 Million Galaxy Phones in Q1 2025

Samsung’s Q1 2025 results showed that it led global smartphone shipments, according to market research firm Canalys. Much of this success can be attributed to the Galaxy S25 series, which helped the company secure the top spot. Now, a report by TrendForce confirms this, stating that Samsung produced over 64 million Galaxy phones in Q1 2025.
Samsung’s Q1 2025 phone shipment numbers leave competition in the dust
TrendForce reports that Samsung produced a whopping 64 million Galaxy phones in Q1 2025, covering the period from January to March. This estimated figure is higher than that of any other smartphone maker globally. Production reportedly jumped over 21 percent quarter-over-quarter (QoQ), which the report attributes to Samsung ramping up output amid growing concerns over potential tariffs.

Meanwhile, its biggest competitor, Apple, produced just over 48 million units, marking a sharp 40 percent quarter-over-quarter decline. Xiaomi and Oppo secured the third and fourth positions with nearly 42 million and 27 million units, respectively. Transsion ranked sixth with around 22 million units, showing up a 20 percent drop compared to the previous quarter.
Samsung also claimed a 22 percent share of the global smartphone market in the first quarter of 2025, the highest among all companies by a significant margin. Apple followed with a 17 percent market share. Other major players included Xiaomi with 14 percent, Oppo with 9 percent, Vivo with 8 percent, and Transsion with 7 percent.
The report further suggests that smartphone shipments could decline in Q2 2025, meaning manufacturers may struggle to match Q1 figures during the April to June period. While Q2 results are still being finalized, it will be interesting to see how the numbers play out. Tariff concerns continue to put pressure on the market. Naturally, they might play a major role in shaping the industry’s short-term outlook.
