Samsung has recently updated Live Pages, its interactive reading mobile app. The platform features all the key works from the school curriculum and contemporary literature. Thanks to its refreshed design, you can now explore Russian literature in a more engaging way.

Samsung says that the logo is based on research into the manuscripts of classic Russian authors. Leo Tolstoy’s handwriting inspired the capital letters “Ж” and “С” in the updated app. In the future, the company will use letterforms inspired by the handwriting of other authors featured in the app’s library.

Furthermore, Live Pages now includes two new books: Three Sisters by A. Chekhov and Midnight Office by Nadya Alekseeva. The app already features a host of Russian classics such as War and Peace, Anna Karenina, Crime and Punishment, and The Brothers Karamazov. Plays like The Cherry Orchard and Woe from Wit are available in a messenger chat format.

“We’re pleased to introduce the updated version of the app, which will continue to serve as a reliable and useful tool for schoolchildren studying classic Russian literature. And for adults, it will offer the opportunity to discover new works by popular authors and revisit existing books, discovering them in a new way,” said Sergey Pevnev, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ CIS Headquarters.

For the uninitiated, Samsung created the Live Pages app in 2015 in collaboration with experts from the Tolstoy Digital group. The app helps you understand stories better thanks to its interactive elements, infographics, and user-friendly navigation. Moreover, Literary experts, philologists, and programmers create interactive scenarios in the story. This lets you discover internal connections while exploring Russian literature in depth.

Some available scenarios include Heroes (character profiles), The Passage of Time (timelines), Relationship Map (connections between characters), Places (locations in the story), and more. The Living Pages project has also participated in major events, including the Books of Russia festival, the Non/Fiction intellectual literature fair, and online reading marathons. You can download the app from the Google Play Store for free.
