Samsung Launches Galaxy A17 5G in the UK — But No Charger Included

Earlier this month, Samsung debuted its affordable Galaxy A17 5G smartphone in a few markets. The company has now made the device available in the UK, expanding its reach to more customers. While some regions are set to get a 25W charger in the box, it is missing in the UK, disappointing budget-conscious buyers.
Samsung’s latest affordable Galaxy A17 5G is now official in the UK
If you are looking for a more affordable Galaxy smartphone that offers great features, the Galaxy A17 could be an excellent choice. The phone arrives in the UK with a price tag of £199 for the single 4GB RAM and 128GB storage option. It is available in three colors: Black, Blue, and Grey. You can purchase the new Galaxy A model from Samsung’s official UK website.
The Galaxy A17 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, it offers protection against scratches. Its IP54 rating ensures dust resistance and protection from splashes of water.

It is thinner and lighter, measuring just 7.5mm in thickness and weighing 192g. The phone has a familiar triple-camera array on the back, with a 50MP wide, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro lens. However, all these lenses now sit within a pill-shaped camera bump, similar to the latest Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36. Furthermore, the main camera now features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which is a welcome upgrade.
On the software front, the Galaxy A17 5G runs Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box. Thanks to Samsung’s extended software support policy, you get six years of OS upgrades and security updates. The company has equipped the device with the same older Exynos 1330 chipset. It packs a larger 5,000 mAh battery, which should last more than a full day of normal usage.
As for charging capability, the phone supports 25W fast charging through USB-C. However, UK consumers will have to purchase a charger separately, as the company will not include one with the device. In India, Samsung will ship the device with a power brick in the box, we can confirm. It’s quite surprising that the company is not doing the same for other regions. This is something Galaxy A17 5G buyers need to be wary of.
