After facing delays with One UI 7, Samsung seems determined to deliver its next major update on time. Internal One UI 8 builds have already leaked, revealing several upcoming features ahead of the update’s expected debut alongside Samsung’s new foldables in July. Now, development has taken a big step forward, as the first One UI 8 beta build appears on Samsung’s servers.
Samsung continues One UI 8 development and internal beta testing
An internal One UI 8 beta firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra recently surfaced on Samsung’s servers with the build number S938BXXU3ZYEA. It is a newer build from the previously leaked S938BXXU2BYDD, suggesting ongoing development and internal testing. In fact, the new build has the letter Z in place of B (the fourth character from the right), indicating a beta version rather than a test build.
While this isn’t a public beta release, it shows that One UI 8 has entered the next phase of development. This comes amid rumors that the beta program may open to select Galaxy devices sometime in June or July. As mentioned above, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 may run the new version out of the box. These foldables are widely rumored to go official in the first half of July.
Since One UI 7 brought a major visual overhaul, the next update will primarily focus on refinements. That’s evident from recent leaks, which show enhancements to several existing features, including Samsung DeX, Quick Share, RAM Plus, Samsung Internet, Camera, Secure Folder, and Now Bar. One UI 8 should also bring a handful of new features and security upgrades to Galaxy devices.
More details about One UI 8 should be available in the coming weeks as Samsung continues its development. This Android 16-based update will be available for dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets starting later this year.
