Samsung Internet Becomes Samsung Browser on Galaxy S26 phones

With the Galaxy S26 launch, Samsung has made a small but noticeable branding change to its default web browser. The Samsung Internet app is now simply called Samsung Browser. This renaming also means the icon is labeled Browser instead of Internet in the app drawer.
Samsung rebrands its browser app on Galaxy S26 phones
The folks over at SamMobile spotted this rebranding of Samsung Internet on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This change makes the app name clearer and easier to understand. While Samsung Internet has been the browser’s official name for years, many users simply referred to it as Samsung’s browser. Renaming it to Samsung Browser aligns the product name more closely with its purpose.
According to the publication, the updated branding appears with version 29.0.4.45 of the app. This version is currently available on the Galaxy S26 lineup but has not yet reached older devices. Samsung will likely roll out the new name for its browser app widely with the One UI 8.5 update. Phones running One UI 8 or the beta version of One UI 8.5 still display the app under its original name, Samsung Internet.
Samsung may also apply the same branding to the browser’s PC version, further unifying the name across platforms. For now, though, the change remains limited to the newest Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5. We will let you know when we have more information.
Aside from the branding update, there are no visible changes to the browser itself. The user interface, features, and layout remain the same as before. That said, Samsung Internet (ahem… Samsung Browser) received several notable changes with One UI 8.5. It is already one of the most feature-rich browser apps out there. It offers features such as privacy tools, ad-blocking support, extensions, and seamless syncing across devices.
