Samsung to Bring “Hey Plex” AI Wake Command to Galaxy S26

Samsung is taking the AI experience to the next level with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The flagship lineup will get an integrated Perplexity AI agent that can be triggered through “Hey Plex” voice command. This will give users more choice and flexibility while making AI voice interactions even more convenient for day-to-day use.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI aims to bring meaningful AI directly into the operating system. Instead of working only within individual apps, it operates at the system level by understanding the user’s context. Simply put, Galaxy AI works in the background, reducing the need to switch between apps or repeat commands.

Now, Samsung is bringing Perplexity, an AI conversational search engine, directly into the system, enhancing multi-agent AI capabilities. In recent years, people have been preferring multiple AI assistants depending on their needs. Based on the company’s internal research, around 8 out of 10 users depend on over two AI agents. As a result, the firm is evolving its Galaxy AI with more integrated assistants.

Last year, Samsung brought Google Gemini as the default AI assistant with the Galaxy S25 series. The company has now confirmed that integrated Perplexity will debut on the upcoming flagship Galaxy devices, pointing to the Galaxy S26 series, coming on February 25. To launch Perplexity, users can say the dedicated wake phrase, Hey Plex. Another way is to simply press and hold the side button. The company will integrate the new AI agent into a host of first-party apps, such as Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, as well as third-party apps.
