Samsung Health Is Changing How It Detects Your Country

Samsung is making an important change to Samsung Health, and it could affect how some features work on your phone. For those unfamiliar, Samsung Health is Samsung’s all-in-one fitness and wellness platform. It tracks workouts, steps, sleep, heart rate, stress levels, and body composition. It connects with Galaxy Watches and other wearables, stores health records, and offers guided programs.

What’s new and what’s actually changing?

Right now, Samsung Health decides your service country based on where your device was originally sold. Starting around July 2026, that will change. As spotted by SammyGuru’s Abhinav Anand in Samsung Health, under Notices, the app will begin using the country listed in your Samsung account instead. It may sound small, but it can directly impact which health features you can access.

Until now, Samsung tied Health features to your device’s purchase region. That caused issues for people who imported their phones or moved to a different country. With the upcoming update, Samsung will align Samsung Health with your Samsung account country settings. Your account, not your hardware, will determine regional access.

Now, you might wonder: “Could this affect the features I have?” The answer is: Yes, it could. Health features may vary depending on local regulations. If the country in your Samsung account doesn’t match your current location, you might see certain features become restricted or unavailable after the update.

If you want to avoid surprises, it’s worth checking your Samsung account country now. To check on your Galaxy phone: Open Settings > Samsung account > Profile information > Country and Region. If you want to change that from your PC, Go to account.samsung.com > Profile > Country and Region.

Samsung also notes that in some regions, including China, users may not be able to freely change their account country due to local regulations. In China, users must install Samsung Health through the official China Galaxy Store to access all features normally.

Samsung plans to roll out the change through a Samsung Health app update scheduled for around July 2026. It’s not a flashy feature update, but it’s an important backend shift, especially for users who travel, relocate, or buy imported Galaxy devices.
