Most of us think about fitness tracking in terms of steps, sleep, and heart rate. But one of the quietest long-term health risks is constant exposure to loud sound. Samsung now appears to be experimenting with a new Samsung Health feature that focuses entirely on tracking and warning users about harmful noise.

Samsung Health may soon warn you when noise levels put your hearing at risk

Android Authority spotted the evidence inside Samsung Health v6.31.2.003. The update contains references to a new Noise card that’s not active yet. Once enabled, it would turn your phone into a basic sound level monitor. It will show how loud your daily environment actually is over time.

Samsung also appears to be taking things a step further with an optional enhanced tracking mode. If this is switched on, the system may rely on a connected Galaxy Watch to continue measuring background sound levels throughout the day. When noise crosses user-defined limits, the app would send alerts as a warning. Current testing suggests users will be able to choose thresholds anywhere between 80dB and 100dB.

What’s especially notable is that Samsung is also exploring alerts tied to audio coming from the phone itself. In simple terms, the app could notify you if your own media volume stays too loud for too long, whether it is music, reels, or gaming audio. In addition, Samsung Health appears to be preparing views that show how often you have been exposed to unsafe noise across weekly, monthly, and yearly timelines.

None of this is live yet. Samsung has not confirmed when, or if, the noise tracking tools will be released publicly. However, if they do arrive, they could add a genuinely useful layer to Samsung Health for anyone who spends long hours in noisy surroundings or regularly uses earbuds at high volume. I, for one, am very excited to try this when it goes live. What are your thoughts?
