Samsung Gallery Gets Stacked Albums, New Navigation Bar in One UI 8.5

Samsung is refining the user experience with One UI 8.5, introducing several notable upgrades for Galaxy users. In the Gallery app, the update brings a cleaner pill-shaped navigation bar, while albums now feature stacked image previews for a more organized look. Here’s an early look at these changes.
Samsung’s Gallery app gets a major overhaul in One UI 8.5
With One UI 8.5, the Gallery app on your Galaxy phone will display stacked image previews for albums. Instead of showing only the most recent photo as the album thumbnail, you’ll now see a layered preview that includes additional images. The latest photo still takes the spotlight at the front in full view, but the stacked layout adds context and gives albums a cleaner, more sophisticated appearance.
Alongside this, Samsung has updated the bottom navigation bar in Gallery. You now get a pill-shaped floating bar that gives the interface a more modern, minimalist look while improving accessibility. The icons look identical to One UI 8, but Samsung could redesign those down the line. We’ve seen updated icons across various system apps on One UI 8.5, so that’s not completely off the cards.
It’s worth noting that this update is still in the development phase. These visuals are from leaked builds. They highlight Samsung’s focus on small but meaningful refinements that enhance everyday usability across its devices. As the development progresses, the company may try various things and tweak some existing changes if necessary.
Samsung Gallery will also reintroduce Samsung Cloud as a backup system in One UI 8.5, replacing Microsoft OneDrive. Stay tuned, we’ll soon share more exclusive details on this update.
