Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Sales May Have Tanked in Q1 2025

Samsung has a big event lined up for July 9 in New York, where it will take the wraps off new devices. These include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Watch 8 series, including the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. Less than a week to go before the Galaxy Watch refresh, and a new market research report says Samsung’s smartwatch sales have fallen globally.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch shipments declined in Q1 2025, outplacing it from top three
According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung’s global smartwatch shipments declined significantly in Q1 2025. The drop was steep enough that Samsung no longer ranks among the top three smartwatch vendors worldwide. The report states that Apple continues to lead the global smartwatch market, followed by Huawei in second place and Xiaomi in third.

Samsung’s global market share in smartwatches currently stands at just 7%. In comparison, Apple holds 20%, Huawei commands 16%, and Xiaomi follows with 10%. Huawei and Xiaomi both recorded strong year-over-year growth in shipments, each increasing by 53%. Meanwhile, Samsung and Apple posted negative growth for the quarter, with Samsung’s shipments down 18% and Apple’s down 9%.
These figures show a challenging start to the year for Samsung in the smartwatch segment. However, the landscape could shift in the coming months. With new models set to launch soon, Samsung may recover some sales ground in Q3 2025 once its latest Galaxy Watches become widely available.
While Samsung has yet to confirm full details, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9 will showcase the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). Right on time, reservations are already open. Those who reserve a device now can receive a $50 credit and also enter a sweepstakes with a chance to win $5,000.
