Today, Samsung announced that its Galaxy S25 smartphone won the 2025 Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) Recycling Design Award. This is the highest recognition for leadership in sustainable product design from ReMA, a leading industry organization dedicated to promoting recycling and circular innovation.

Galaxy S25 earns 2025 ReMA award for eco-friendly design

For years, Samsung has been putting more effort into recycling materials to contribute to the environment. These efforts are now paying off, as it has won the ReMA Recycling Design Award 2025 for using recycled materials in its Galaxy S25 smartphone.

“Samsung has demonstrated true leadership by incorporating design for recycling principles into every phase of Galaxy S25,” said Robin Wiener, President of the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA). “Their use of various recycled materials shows a clear commitment to designing the products we rely on every day with innovation and environmental responsibility.

Samsung aims to make sustainability a part of every stage of its products, from design to use to disposal. The firm’s Galaxy S25 is a big step toward its goal to reuse more materials and reduce waste. It promised that it will keep working to create a more sustainable future for the next generations.

Samsung used different recycled materials in the Galaxy S25

The Korean firm used eight different recycled materials in the Galaxy S25 across its components, including aluminum, rare earth elements like neodymium, and steel. For the first time, it used recycled material in the armor aluminum frame, as it wanted to use at least one recycled material on every external component of the Galaxy S25. On top of that, it even used 100% recycled paper in the Galaxy S25 series packaging box.

Samsung has also collected recycled cobalt through its new Circular Battery Supply Chain to use in the Galaxy S25’s battery. Basically, this process involves recovering cobalt from older Galaxy devices and batteries discarded during the manufacturing process. This helps the company to reuse useful materials and reduce the need for newly mined cobalt.

So, Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S25, shows that it’s possible to care for the planet without compromising design. ReMA will present the award to Samsung on May 14 at the ReMA Convention in San Diego, California. If you are interested in buying the latest Samsung flagship, check out these deals.
