Earlier today, we reported that Samsung maintained its top position in the Global smartphone market in Q1 2025, with shipments of 60.5 million units. And now, data from Hana Securities reveals that the Korean firm managed to sell 20.29 million units of smartphones in March 2025. A substantial portion of these figures comes from the new Galaxy S25 series, which reached 9.16 million units in cumulative two-month sales since launch.
Samsung Galaxy smartphone March 2025 sales report from Hana Securities
Hana Securities (via @Jukanlosreve) says while the overall smartphone sales numbers show some growth compared to February, there’s also a slight drop compared to the same time last year. As mentioned above, Samsung sold a total of 20.29 million units of smartphones in March 2025. That’s a 5% increase from February 2025, but 2% less than March 2024.
Thanks to the growing demand for Samsung’s latest Galaxy S flagship lineup, the company is seeing month-over-month growth in overall smartphone sales. The Galaxy S25 series includes the three models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. In the first two months since its launch, the Galaxy S25 series sold a total of 9.16 million units. You can see the share of each model below:
- Galaxy S25: 2.41 million units
- Galaxy S25+: 1.67 million units
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 5.08 million units
In comparison with the predecessor Galaxy S24 series, the lineup sold 6.53 million units during its first two months on the market. The Ultra model sold 3.58 million units, the S24 sold 1.67 million units, and the Plus sold 1.28 million units.
Galaxy S25 series is performing better than the S24 series
We can see that the Galaxy S25 series is doing much better than the S24 series, mainly the Ultra model. This suggests that consumers are more interested in the high-end model of the lineup, possibly due to new Galaxy AI features, an improved camera, a larger screen, and a bigger battery. However, that’s only part of the story. Due to differences in launch timing and the number of sales days, comparing these numbers directly is not fair.
When comparing only the March month, Hana Securities says the Galaxy S25 series actually sold 10% less than the S24 series did in its second month. This suggests initial excitement around the Galaxy S25 is now slowing down a bit. The firm didn’t share full figures for March.
Meanwhile, Samsung has officially confirmed that the current flagship model’s demand is high since its launch. It will be interesting to see whether demand remains high in the coming months, as there is a lot of uncertainty over US tariffs. The company is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in a couple of weeks.
