Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G has had a quiet launch in some regions, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks. Ahead of its debut in the Indian market, a leak revealed pricing for all memory configurations. If true, the company will make its affordable 5G phone available in the country at the same starting price as its predecessor, the Galaxy A16 5G.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Galaxy A17 5G will start at INR 18,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The 8GB+128GB variant will cost INR 20,499, while the 8GB+256GB version will hit the store at INR 23,499. In comparison, last year’s Galaxy A16 5G debuted at INR 18,999 for the 8GB+128GB model and INR 21,999 for the 8GB+256GB option.

It is worth mentioning that even though Samsung is retaining the same starting price, it is offering a lower-entry 6GB variant. However, Samsung has made some design tweaks to give the Galaxy A17 a more modern look, alongside a few key upgrades.
In recent years, Samsung has focused on making its smartphones thinner and lighter, and the latest Galaxy A17 5G continues that trend. It comes with a thickness of 7.5mm and weighs 192g (A16 5G was 7.9mm thick and weighs 200g). Furthermore, it features a similar pill-shaped camera bump as the latest Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36.
The most notable upgrade is the addition of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to its 50MP main camera, a feature that should reduce shake and blur. There are no changes to the ultrawide, macro, and selfie cameras — they remain at 5MP, 2MP, and 13MP, respectively. The phone boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
It packs a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 25W charging. Under the hood, it retains the same older Exynos 1330 chipset. Software-wise, it runs Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box, with a promise of six generations of OS upgrades. We will let you know when Samsung launches the Galaxy A17 5G in more markets, including the US — stay tuned.
