Samsung Expands App Support for Now Bar and Live Notifications
Samsung’s Now Bar is a handy feature that lets you keep track of important information right from your lock screen. At launch, Now Bar and Live Notifications supported only a few system apps like Clock, Voice Recorder, and Google Maps. But with One UI 8, Samsung expanded support to third-party apps, making the features much more useful. Food delivery services are now starting to show up in Now Bar and Live Notifications.
Zomato gets Now Bar support in One UI 8
Zomato, one of the most popular food delivery apps in India, has added support for Samsung’s Now Bar and Live Notifications. Screenshots posted on Reddit reveal that the latest Zomato update enables quick access to order updates on Galaxy devices running One UI 8. Galaxy users can now see real-time updates directly on their lock screen through the Now Bar, and on the status bar through Live Notifications.
The Now Bar and Live Notifications cards show updates such as “Preparing your order,” along with the estimated delivery time and progress. You can expand the cards to see more details about the ongoing order. You don’t need to launch the app to check the latest status of your order. How cool is that?
That said, Now Bar and Live Notifications still only support a limited number of apps. Apart from some system apps and a few third-party ones like Zomato and Uber, most popular services are still missing. Hopefully, Samsung will expand this functionality further and add support for more everyday apps such as food delivery, cab booking, quick commerce, and travel platforms.
Perhaps we could see another round of expansion with One UI 8.5, which should debut early next year with the Galaxy S26 series. Stay tuned!
