Samsung Earns Carbon Certifications for Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED for Fifth Year

by | Mar 17, 2025 | News, TV

Last year, Samsung earned ‘Product Carbon Reduction’ Certification for its 60 models across the Neo QLED, OLED, and Lifestyle TV categories. This year, the Korean firm expanded its carbon-certified products to include QLED TVs. On top of that, the company is also working to earn certification for its Color E-Paper lineup later this year.

TÜV Rheinland Awards ‘Product Carbon Reduction’ and ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ Certifications

In a Newsroom post, Samsung announced that about 80 models of its 2025 TVs, monitors, and soundbars have earned ‘Product Carbon Reduction’ and ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ Certifications from TÜV Rheinland — a globally recognized certification organization based in Germany. Some of the recently certified models include Neo QLED 8K (QN990F, QN950F), Neo QLED 4K (QN90F, QN85F), OLED (S95F 55”/65”, S90F, S85F 77”/83”), The Frame Pro (LS03FW), LCD Signage (QMC 43”, 50”, 55”, 75”), and Soundbar (Q930F, Q800F, QS700F) products.

Carbon Certifications

Interestingly, this is the fifth year in a row that Samsung’s premium lineups, Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED, have received certifications for reducing carbon emissions. In 2021, Samsung’s Neo QLED was the first 4K and higher resolution TV to get the Reducing CO2 certification. So far, the company has added QLED, Crystal UHD, Lifestyle TVs, OLED TVs, and a whole range of monitors and digital signage products to its certified range.

“Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future. As the world’s leading TV manufacturer, we will continue to be at the forefront of establishing a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung.

Based on internationally recognized sustainability standards, TÜV Rheinland certifies a product’s entire lifecycle from manufacturing to transportation to usage to disposal. So, getting certification from such an organization shows Samsung’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its products. It is noteworthy that the ‘Product Carbon Reduction’ certification goes to those products that have already earned ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ certification and have shown a measurable reduction in carbon emissions from previous models.
