UPDATE (August 20, 2025): Shortly after we reported that the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is missing trade-in options on Samsung’s website, the company reinstated them. You can now trade in your old smartwatch when buying the latest Ultra smartwatch. The original article, published on August 19, follows.

If you were hoping to pick up the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) from Samsung’s online store today, you might be in for a small surprise. Unlike others, there doesn’t appear to be any option to trade in an older device when buying the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025).

That means fans looking to offset the cost by recycling a previous smartwatch will have to pay full price… or wait. We’ve reached out to Samsung for clarification. We’ll update this story as soon as we receive a response.

Samsung quietly removes trade-in option for the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)

It has been just over a month since Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). And much to everyone’s surprise, the option to trade in an older device is nowhere to be found.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 trade in banner

This is especially unusual because the Galaxy Watch Ultra banner still advertises “get up to $250 instant trade-in credit.” At this point, it is unclear whether this is a mistake on Samsung’s online store or if the company has paused or discontinued trade-ins for the new model.

Meanwhile, trade-in deals are still live for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Watch 8, offering up to $250 and $200 in credit, respectively. Samsung is also providing additional instant discounts. Essentially, that’s $100 off for the Watch 8 Classic and $50 for the Watch 8. This brings their effective prices to $449.99 and $299, even without trade-ins.

For now, the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is full price only, and buyers hoping for a trade-in boost will have to wait. If not, you can check out the Galaxy Watch 8 series and save some dollars.
