Samsung Developing New Camera Sensor, Files DeepPix Trademark

It looks like Samsung may be preparing its biggest camera hardware shift in years. The company has filed a new trademark for the name, Samsung DeepPix. This alone suggests that a brand-new image sensor family is in development. If this move materializes, it could eventually replace or sit alongside ISOCELL branding.
Samsung has filed DeepPix trademarks across multiple regions
Trademark filings for Samsung DeepPix have now appeared in Argentina, the EU, and the US (via Galaxy Club). The documents clearly describe DeepPix as a CMOS image sensor, which confirms this is related to camera hardware rather than software processing or photography features. As with most early trademarks, no technical specifications have been revealed just yet.
At present, Samsung offers around 36 different ISOCELL sensors that power everything from budget phones to its top-tier flagships. The timing of the DeepPix trademark is also interesting. Sony recently revealed its massive 1/1.12-inch 200 MP LYTIA sensor, while OmniVision has announced a 1/1.1-inch 200 MP alternative with impressive HDR performance.
Several Chinese smartphone brands are already expected to adopt these next-generation sensors in 2026. In comparison, Samsung is rumored to stick with a familiar 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL sensor for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, reportedly as part of a cost control strategy.
That makes DeepPix look more like a long-term reset than a quick refresh. Perhaps it could be Samsung’s way of laying the groundwork for more meaningful camera upgrades in future Galaxy devices. As for where DeepPix might show up first, it’s far too early to say.
Samsung has multiple launches planned for 2026, including the Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8, and perhaps a Fold 8 FE as well, along with the next Galaxy A lineup. So our best bet would be wait a bit.
