Samsung Creates a Business Support Office Led by HK Park

Samsung has made an important change in its management structure. The company has created a permanent Business Support Office to improve collaboration across all Samsung businesses. It appointed HK Park as the new head of this office.

Samsung elevates group coordination with management overhaul

The new Business Support Office (previously known as the Business Support Task Force) aims to strengthen company-wide coordination at the group level. The company said that this office won’t act as a control tower like the former Future Strategy Office, but will operate as a single unit similar to the DS and DX divisions.

The newly appointed HK Park is a long-time Samsung executive with experience in finance and strategy. In 2020, Park became president and led the Management Support Office for the DS Division. In 2022, he became Chief Financial Officer (CFO). At the end of 2024, he took charge of the Business Support Task Force for the semiconductor business. Born in 1964, Park completed a degree in business administration from Cheongju High School and Seoul National University and achieved a master’s degree from KAIST.

“He is a finance expert with a comprehensive understanding of both the semiconductor and home appliance divisions,” said an industry insider (via The Asia Business Daily). “He is the right person for the job, as he is capable of both identifying organizational weaknesses and strengths through management diagnosis.”

Meanwhile, Park’s predecessor, Vice Chairman Chung Hyunho, has retired from front-line management and taken on the newly created role of Chairman’s Advisor. A Samsung official said this “move should be understood as a retirement to make way for the next generation.”

Speaking of other personnel reshuffles, Choi Yunho (previously head of the Management Diagnosis Office) has now become head of strategy for the Business Support Office. Moon Heedong (formerly part of the Business Support Task Force) will now lead the People Team within the office.
