The past few years have not been great for Samsung, especially its DS division. Some bets paid off, but more did not. That may be changing now. The company’s recent struggles could finally be paying off. Expectations for Samsung’s earnings next year are rising, mainly because of a strong rebound in the memory market.

Samsung could be heading toward one of the most profitable years in its history

Analysts now say Samsung is heading toward one of the most profitable years in its history (via Chosun). The company could post operating profit of up to 100 trillion won, or about $75 billion. Rising prices for DRAM and NAND flash are driving the outlook and should continue into next year. Samsung is also expected to raise average DRAM selling prices by the mid to high teens, with some forecasts even higher if supply stays tight.

The picture looks similar for NAND. Years of cautious investment have left the market struggling to keep up with growing demand. For Samsung, this setup is especially favorable. The company remains the world’s largest memory supplier by volume. Higher prices across multiple categories could give its memory division a meaningful boost.

General-purpose DRAM and NAND are recovering at the same time. This puts Samsung in a position to benefit from better pricing and steady shipments. AI infrastructure is a big part of the story. Data centers continue to scale up at a rapid pace. This is driving demand for high-bandwidth memory as well as high-performance SSDs based on advanced NAND.

Samsung supplies a wide range of memory products to enterprise customers, which puts it in a strong position as data center spending stays healthy. Progress in high-bandwidth memory also matters. Samsung is ramping up HBM3E shipments. It still trails SK Hynix in HBM, but the gap is narrowing.

If HBM volumes keep rising, profits could climb quickly, especially with better pricing for standard memory. Some securities firms already forecast Samsung’s operating profit next year well above past records.
