Samsung recently supplied its 50MP ISOCELL JNP image sensor, featuring a nano-prism structure, to Xiaomi’s Civi 5 Pro. The company expects its cutting-edge nano-prism sensors to reach more phones in the second half of the year. It announced the plans as part of the Q2 2025 earnings report.

Expect more phones with Samsung’s nano-prism image sensors in the coming months

Samsung just published its financial results for the second quarter of 2025. And while the numbers tell one story, the company’s future roadmap for the Device Solutions business division, which incorporates the semiconductor and foundry units, makes it clear that Samsung is doubling down on next-generation innovation.

The Korean firm confirmed that its next major mobile processor, the Exynos 2600, will be built on its 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process technology. This marks a major milestone in Samsung’s race to close the gap with TSMC in advanced chip manufacturing. The chip could debut in the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, provided foundry yield issues are resolved in time.

Alongside chip innovation, Samsung is pushing forward with ultra-high-resolution and nano-prism image sensors. These advanced sensors offer better light diffraction control and enhanced detail, potentially rivaling or even surpassing Sony’s leading mobile camera sensors. The company may not use these sensors in its next-gen flagships, though.

“In H2 2025, the System LSI Business will focus on improving Exynos competitiveness to ensure its adoption in 2026 flagship mobile lineups of a major customer and expanding the sales of ultra-high-resolution and nano-prism sensors,” Samsung said… “the Foundry Business will ramp up mass production of a new mobile SoC with the 2nm GAA process.”

As far as its vision for mobile devices is concerned, the focus remains on AI. Samsung says it will “reinforce the AI capabilities of tablets and wearables” alongside smartphones. The company will also expand the Galaxy ecosystem with the launch of new products across different form factors. The long-rumored tri-fold and XR headset may finally arrive later this year.
