Samsung has announced in a newsroom post that it’s bringing Gemini to Galaxy Watches and Galaxy Buds. We know that will make the wearables a lot more useful and smarter. The Gemini upgrade will allow Galaxy Watch users to get hands-free help using voice commands. And if you’re using the Galaxy Buds 3 Buds 3 Pro, activating Gemini will be easier than ever.
Gemini lands soon on your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds
With Gemini on your Galaxy Watch, you’ll be able to do things like set reminders, check the weather, or ask for a quick summary of your latest email. Just speak naturally, and Gemini will respond. For example, you could say “Remember I’m using locker 43 today,” or “Summarize my last email,” and Gemini will handle the rest. It works across your apps, so you can stay focused without pausing what you’re doing.
The Galaxy Buds 3 series also plays a part in this smarter experience. While Gemini won’t run directly on the earbuds, you can access it through your connected device. Of course, by using voice commands or a pinch-and-hold gesture on the buds. Samsung says this will make the experience feel more fluid, especially when you’re on the go and can’t reach for your phone.
Samsung hasn’t given an exact date for when Gemini will roll out to its wearables. But it says the update is coming “in the next few months.” It’s expected to arrive alongside the One UI 8 Watch update, which is currently in development. Once that’s out, Gemini is likely to replace Google Assistant on Galaxy Watches entirely.
So far, only the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro have been named in the announcement. This suggests older buds might not get the same functionality. More details will likely follow at Samsung’s July Unpacked event, where the company is expected to reveal the Galaxy Watch 8.
