Samsung Confirms Free Storage Upgrade for Galaxy S26 in Key Markets

Samsung may have lowered its reservation credit for the Galaxy S26 series globally, but the most popular pre-order benefit appears to be sticking around. The company has now confirmed a free storage upgrade in India, following similar announcements in the UK and several European markets. Customers who pre-order the 256GB variant will receive the 512GB model at the same price.
Galaxy S26 pre-orders will include a free storage upgrade in most markets
For years, Samsung has offered a free storage upgrade for flagships during pre-orders. However, rising component costs and overheads are putting pressure on the company this year. It may be unable to keep prices flat, with a small bump expected in most markets. Moreover, Samsung may have to streamline freebies to save margins.
In fact, as mentioned above, Galaxy S26 reservations come with a lower free credit than before. Early reports also claimed that Samsung will not offer a free storage upgrade during pre-orders. While this may hold true in some regions, buyers in India, Europe, and the UK are now confirmed to get the higher storage variant at the price of the base model.
Interestingly, Samsung didn’t always advertise a free storage upgrade before the launch. It seems to be doing so this year to build confidence ahead of the Galaxy S26 launch next week, especially after media reports suggested no such offer. Since India is one of the most price-sensitive markets, we expect similar offers in most other regions.
With just days to go until Galaxy Unpacked on 25 February 2026, it won’t be long before we learn the final pricing strategy and complete list of launch offers. If Samsung manages to keep pricing stable while retaining attractive pre-order benefits like the double storage upgrade, the Galaxy S26 series could see strong early demand.
Meanwhile, interested buyers in the US can sign up for our Mystery Box program to score additional freebies, including a 65W GaN charger and a protective case. Find more details here.
