Samsung’s rollout of the One UI 8 Watch beta, based on Wear OS 6, has gone from bad to worse. After a botched and highly restricted launch, the company has now closed beta registrations entirely. Users who held off on enrolling in the beta program early can no longer access the registration page.

Samsung has closed One UI 8 Watch beta registrations

One UI 8 Watch beta is limited to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, and even then, only in the US and South Korea. To make matters worse, only Bluetooth variants and T-Mobile LTE models are eligible, while unlocked LTE models and other carrier units can’t participate. This left many loyal Samsung fans — especially those who intentionally bought unlocked models — shut out from day one.

Things didn’t get better for the few who were eligible. Numerous users who signed up via the Samsung Members app reported never receiving the OTA update, despite a successful registration. Others encountered errors during enrollment, with no workaround in sight. Even basic troubleshooting steps like clearing the app cache, restarting the devices, or re-enrolling didn’t help.

Now, just days later, Samsung has apparently pulled the plug. It has closed new registrations for the One UI 8 Watch beta, and there’s no official statement explaining why, or whether it will return. For users hoping to test One UI 8 Watch’s new features like faster performance, enhanced health tracking, and a refined UI, this is a major letdown.

With the stable release expected to be unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked on July 9, Samsung may be shifting focus to polishing the final version. Or maybe the company will reopen beta registrations after fixing the aforementioned issues. Still, this sudden closure and silence leave current Galaxy Watch owners feeling ignored and abandoned. We’ll keep you updated as the story develops.
